Mechanism action of Cefotaxime
The bactericidal activity of cefotaxime results from the inhibition of
cell wall synthesis via affinity for penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
Cefotaxime shows high affinity for penicillin-binding proteins in the
cell wall including PBP Ib and PBP III.
