Mechanism action of Benzocaine
Benzocaine binds to sodium channels and reversibly stabilizes the
neuronal membrane which decreases its permeability to sodium ions.
Depolarization of the neuronal membrane is inhibited thereby blocking
the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses.
